An insight into the work of the barley flour mill in Norwich.
Shot inside the barley flour mill at Colmans works, Norwich, Mr. George Fenn demonstrates dressing the mill stone. This was the art of cutting cracks in the mill stones to grind the barley into flour. The aim was to cut 20 cracks per inch which would give a fine grade flour. In all Mr. Fenn would cut 1,300 cracks in each of the stones. This would grind 1000 tons of flour before a new stone needed dressing.
