A day on the Broads with the Jenkins family, 1929
This film is shot in various parts of the Broads, probably on several separate occasions. This is an amateur film showing the Jenkins family on the Broads. About 10 people are featured taking trips on a motor boat and relaxing at a riverside house. The film begins with the picnic hamper being loaded onto the boat. The next sequence is filmed from the boat, showing passing chalets, windmills (some derelict, some working) and other boats. There is a gramophone on board and they consume a good lunch. Some of the party go sailing in the next sequence, possibly at Ludham Bridge. There are shots of the boat and the family is shown feeding the ducks. A four second shot of the family on Southwold Beach is followed by scenes from a different day out on the Broads. On what appears to be a windy day, they take tea on the bank. Family and country shots follow, including some more shots taken from the boat. At the end of the film the Jenkins' are seen on the balcony of a riverside chalet and relaxing in their garden with the family dogs.
