Extract from a BBC Look East transmission showing interior and exterior shots of the Mercury Theatre, nearing completion, and the old Repertory Theatre in the High Street. In an interview with reporter John Myatt, David Forder, Director of the Mercury, discusses the design for the new theatre. John Myatt then moves on to the Repertory Theatre for the last performance (`Beauty and the Beast'), going backstage to interview technical staff and actors. The film shows scenes of the end of run party at the Repertory Theatre and ends by showing the lights being turned off and the empty seats of the old theatre
