BBC report on the Tattingstone Suitcase Murder in Suffolk. Interview with a police investigator regarding the progress of the case and the methods they have used to track down the criminal.

Camera pans across a field near the village of Tattingstone, Suffolk. The presenter states that the story of the Suffolk Suitcase Murder begins in this field about 6 miles from the centre of Ipswich. Camera pans to show the presenter standing in the field as he describes the investigation. On January 16th 1967 a farm labourer was working in this field when he spotted two cases lying in a hedge. He opened them up and found they contained a dead body. The boy was later identified as 17 year old Bernard Oliver. He states that this is the most brutal and horrific murder in the history of crime in this country and it has sparked off a police hunt of tremendous intensity. Interview with a member of the investigation team who says that they have had a lot of clues, such as shipping labels, which have been investigated thoroughly. He talks about the investigations that have taken place and the number of people they have interviewed. Close ups of newspaper clippings regarding the murder. The member of the investigation team talks about the newspaper articles and explains the tactics behind them. Because he’s lived with this case for the last four years, the interviewer asks what sort of picture he has built up of the man who committed the murder. The police investigator answers that he doesn’t want to go into too much detail, but that he has some key traits which have been identified. The interviewer states that there have been many positive leads on the case and so questions why the criminal keeps managing to avoid getting caught. The police investigator replies that the criminal has had all the luck which hasn’t come their way so far. He says that the evidence is there and so they just have to get on the right lead.
