BBC Look East footage of the annual Tulip Parade in Spalding.

Rows and rows of tulips in full bloom on display to visitors by the Spalding Bulb Company Ltd in the formal gardens and in the glashouses. Two children enjoy 'space rocket’ ice lollies, and people visit the souvenir shop. At the showground, people are assembling in fancy dress for the annual parade, and the Tulip Queen takes her seat on a flower-covered float. The parade continues in the town centre showing a number of company sponsored tulip floats representing different themes including tortoises ridden by hares, a butcher's shop, Alf Garnett and Silly Old Moo, football World Cup Willie, Cleopatra in Egypt, St John Ambulance and a floral coach and leaping horses. This film was transmitted to introduce BBC East news stories as part of the regional news broadcast.
