Robinson's Lemon Barley Water: Winter

1950s

Cinema advertisement for Robinson's Lemon Barley Water.

A frosty window is wiped clear to reveal a kettle boiling on a stove and 'a new idea this winter, Robinson's Lemon Barley with hot water'. As mother pours out four glasses of hot lemon barley water, she talks about her family's love for it, claiming it really does her husband good whilst 'young Jean thrives on it' and Peter would 'drink the whole bottle, if I let him'. After sitting together and drinking their hot lemon barley beside an open fire, the family take their new found energy outdoors, playing in a local park. The advertisement concludes with a close up of the bottle and four steaming cups of hot lemon barley water and a suggestion that 'for enjoyment and energy, try Robinson's Lemon Barley Water this winter'.
