Reopening of Potton Fire Station

1957 , Potton (Bedfordshire)

A record of a civic ceremony in a Bedfordshire parish town.

The residents of the Bedfordshire parish town of Potton are gathered with invited guests to celebrate the reopening of the local fire station. Local councillors and dignitaries deliver speeches from a podium, as members of the fire service stand proudly in front of their fire engine. A demonstration of the appliance follows, with the crew rushing into Market Square and performing a ceremonial spraying of the fire hoses. And with the ceremony finished, the fire engine is placed on display, as firefighters, guests and townsfolk mingle and chat in the street.
