Amateur filmmaker Herbert Smerdon and party take day trips exploring the English county of Suffolk, visiting many of the pretty villages and small towns, occasionally stopping to picnic in the open air, crop lavender, or feed a horse. Many of the places visited lie close to the Essex border in the Stour Valley region. The villages featured are; East Bergholt, Layer Marney, Colchester, Bury St Edmunds, Bungay, Lavenham, Long Melford, Aldeburgh, Sandlings, Polstead, Framlingham, Cavendish, Rendlesham, Snape, Thorpeness, Oulton Broad, Gorleston, and Southwold.
