Car Trials at Snetterton

1961 , Snetterton (Norfolk)

Vision from an About Anglia report from car trials at Snetterton racing circuit.

Members of the East Anglia Motor Club at Snetterton, where the former RAF base has been converted into a motor racing circuit. The first driver to tackle the course is driving a Ford Zodiac Mk. 2, which he throws around both sets of markers with abandon before coming to an abrupt stop at the designated point. He is followed by other drivers in a variety of other cars, including a small family saloon similar to a Ford Anglia, a small two-door saloon, a pair of vintage sports cars (one driven by a woman), and an open-wheeled racing car. With each car having completed the trial, the drivers switch vehicles before some familiar faces - including Anglia Television's Dick Joice and Bob Wellings - take their turn behind the wheel. The film concludes with one final driver making a meal of the course, almost hitting one marker and driving in the wrong direction between the others before taking out a section of fencing.
