Great Yarmouth's Pleasure Beach Open on Good Friday

1960 , Great Yarmouth (Norfolk)

Anglia Television mute news footage of both adults and children enjoying the fairground attractions at Great Yarmouth’s Pleasure Beach, free from work responsibilities on Good Friday.

An oasis of entertainment, featured rides include a ferris wheel and a rotating seated platform ride; with spectators happy to stand at the ringside and watch others go by. The male adults, often sporting the typical greased-back or quiffed hair style, compete for prizes; a young boy strikes a blow with his fist at a hanging punch ball; a coconut prize is handed to a father with his young child; a young man aims a shot with an archer’s arrow. Further amusements include a miniature rotating platform ride for children; the dodgem cars; and finally, a carousel.
