An ‘About Anglia’ report from Norwich’s former Regent Cinema on the Prince of Wales Road, featuring the site’s refurbishment and transformation to become the ABC Cinema.

Presenter John McGregor reports for Anglia Television from the former Regent Cinema, Prince of Wales Road site in Norwich. Due to reopen in one week as the ABC cinema, refurbishment and reconstruction is taking place. Despite the current pile of rubble and old furnishings, concentrating on the design features of the building’s interior; its auditorium seating, ceiling, balcony and arches, the proposed luxury of the new cinema is emphasised. Meanwhile, the builders and carpenters are busy at work, particularly the workmen creating and polishing the new “Italian Terrazzo” faux-marble flooring in the entrance and foyer. John McGregor interviews Site Manager Mr [Detmer], and ABC Cinema Manager Mr Forgham who detail the improvements that are being made, and the work required to complete the new cinema by its planned opening date of Sunday May 7th.
