[Broads Journey]

1970s , Norfolk (County)

Home movie of a boat trip on the Norfolk Broads.

Two men lower a mast on a small Broads yacht, tying it down in preparation for passage beneath the medieval Potter Heigham Bridge, which passes over the River Thurne. Cruising at sunset across open water, possibly in Heigham Sound and Hinkley Broad, the boat is shown moored in the evening. Back on the Broads, a waterfowl sits on an exposed wooden post, taking flight as the boat glides by. Returning under the Potter Heigham Bridge past Broads Haven, a large rainbow is cast across the Broads. Passing beneath another narrow crossing, possibly Ludham Bridge, the pair visit numerous mills in the area, including the Oby Mill at Asby with Oby. The film concludes with another cruise at sunset.
