Background Information

BOAC (British Overseas Airways Corporation) - One of the primary users of the VC10. BOAC was the British state airline from 1939 until 1946 and the long-haul British state airline from 1946 to 1974. Ceased operations 31 March 1974 (merged with British European Airways to form British Airways). The following statement appeared as part of Leslie Worsdell's obituary "Celebrating the Life of Leslie Worsdell" in the summer 2008 edition of 'Marshall Aerospace News' at http://www.marshallgroup.co.uk/assets/downloads/ma-news/ma-news-summer-08.pdf "Leslie Worsdell was the first apprentice flying instructor trained pre-war by Marshall of Cambridge. He played an important part in flying training over a career of 50 years in aviation, which included working as Marshall of Cambridge’s Chief Test Pilot where he was involved in the introduction of the C-130 Hercules aircraft to Royal Air Force Service. Leslie became a Director of Marshall in 1977 and served in that role until his retirement in December 1987."
