Great Yarmouth - It's Got The Lot

The highlights of Great Yarmouth are shown through still images in this promotional film by the Great Yarmouth Tourist Board.

Introduced as 'Greatest Yarmouth', a 'mini-Venice', the film declares that it's got the lot! Throughout the film a voiceover promotes the coastal town over a series of still images of the highlights it has to offer to tourists. A map shows how to get there through Norwich, and the various modes of transport available. Scenes show the many activities at the beach, and the two piers- Britannia and Wellington, which both host several entertainments. Holidaymakers enjoy the nearby seaside villages, but various swimming pools are available for those who aren't so keen on the sea. Children can stay at the beach club, while the bowling green, tennis courts and golf course keeps the older generations occupied. Horse, car and greyhound racing are popular pastimes, though a more relaxed holiday can be found on the Norfolk broads. People take part in various activities throughout the day, though there is just as much entertainment to be found at night, with live performers, a purpose-built circus and countless nightclubs and dance halls. They lay odds that even after visiting such cities as London and Las Vegas, people will still want to return to Great Yarmouth. The film shows historical pictures, comparing the port then and now. There's indoor swimming pools with everything you could want, even a beach. People relax at the health centre and solarium. For work-related events, there is a conference centre. Shoppers peruse the markets and shopping centre, for outdoor and indoor shopping. And to cater for all these new tourists, there are more than enough hotels, chalets and caravans to make their stay more comfortable. The tourist information centre will tell you even more about what you can do. The model village lets you start small, while a bus tour will take you to much larger attractions such as Sandringham House. Museums, National Trust houses and castles are available for a taste of culture, or there's a wildlife park for those who want something a little wilder. The history of the region is wide and varied, from Lord Nelson to churches, to specific trades. In nearby Norwich, the cathedral and castle are points of interest.
