Cadet training course in Wales where they practice skills such as first aid, mountain climbing, knot tying, map reading and Morse Code.
One of a collection of three Cadet training films of the Hertfordshire County Police filmed in Hertfordshire and at their outdoor training centre in North Wales. Shot of the Cadets doing exercises and boxing in the gym. Outside, someone picks up a map from a table and gives it to one of the uniformed Cadets. Two Cadets look at the map. The Cadets march past the camera, walk up a hill, climb over rocks at the bottom of a waterfall and walk over mountain terrain. A group of Cadets prepare camp meals. Close up of the paraffin stove. Cadets wash up and clean themselves in a stream followed by a shot of them practising a mountain rescue with a stretcher exercise. Various shots of Cadets doing a rope assault course over water followed by them doing a night time exercise. Shot of the Cadets drinking. A man arrives in a saloon car and talks to the Cadets all standing to attention. The Cadets climb a mountain for some training in the use of ropes. Various shots of the Cadets rock climbing. The Cadets carry out a mock rescue of a man who slips and is injured on the mountainside. They use a stretcher to bring him down the mountain. They bandage him up and put him in the back of an ambulance. The ambulance drives away and the camera pans to show the view of the mountains.
