The Christmas Portrait

1951 , St Albans (Hertfordshire)

The Warwick family take a novel approach to the traditional Christmas family portrait.

An empty settee is filled, one by one, with members of the Warwick family, who adopt a traditional Christmas portrait pose. Close-up shots show each family member; a mother, a young daughter, her older brother and her father. The daughter rides roughly on a rocking horse, before taking her teddy bear for a ride. Outside, she rides a tricycle, whilst her brother roller skates. Approaching a window, the pair pose again with mother, who later poses in the front yard with the family cat.
