The Sun Bear

1960 , Great Witchingham (Norfolk)

The (mis)adventures of a tame Malayan bear cub, that now calls Norfolk Wildlife Park its home, captured by naturalist, conservationist and filmmaker, Philip Wayre.

The often amusing behaviour of a tame Malayan bear cub - affectionately referred to as ‘pooh bear’ in the voiceover - as he spends the afternoon in the sunshine. Native to south-east Asia, the bear cub seems quite at home, idling the day away at the filmmaker’s private estate – Norfolk Wildlife Park; climbing a tree; enjoying hand-fed treats; play-wrestling with the family’s golden Labrador; and enjoying a table-top picnic of bread, honey, bananas and milk.
