Documentary showing different forms of water transport in Japan. Footage of a woman treading a water wheel pump, women working in paddy fields, milking goats, picking fruit, taking fruit and vegetables to the town by boat. Shots of a watermill and many different types of boats, both 'working boats' and pleasure craft.

Background Information

This film was made by Koji Tsukamoto (also found referred to as Khoji Tsukamoto). He lived in Tokyo, Japan. He was born 12 January 1896 in Tokyo, and died 26 September 1963. Tsukamoto was a mountain photographer before he began shooting films. Most of the small-gauge films that he made were documentaries that featured nature and mountains. He was a member of Cherry Amateur Movie Society and Nippon Amateur Cine Slide Association. He served as the chair of Nippon Amateur Cine Slide Association in 1950. He was awarded medals of honour by the Government in 1962 (Medal with Dark Blue Ribbon and Medal with Purple Ribbon).
