John Langley introduces the ocarina and demonstrates how he makes them.

John Langley explains how to play the ocarina (a wind instrument with South American origins) and demonstrates how he makes terracotta ocarinas. Sequences include: John Langley exhibiting and playing ocarinas, notably demonstrating the range of ocarinas he produces; John Langley in his workshop demonstrating the different stages of production from moulding the terracotta into shape, cutting the ocarina in half to hollow out its inside, cutting the whistle hole, tuning the ocarina (by adjusting the size of the holes he has cut), drying the terracotta, glazing it, and finally removing the completed ocarina from the kiln after firing. The film concludes with a demonstration of the ocarina as John Langley plays it, accompanied by a boy and girl also playing ocarinas.
