A film version of the story by Edgar Allan Poe.
Drama. An avant garde experimental film version of the story by Edgar Allan Poe. The film uses shots through prisms to create optical distortion, acute architectural angles, dramatic lighting, anamorphic lens shots and multiple exposure. There is no dialogue, though one part features letters moving across the screen. The style of the film owes much to German Expressionism.
Background Information
In 2000, the United States Library of Congress deemed the film "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant film" and selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry.
