Christmas For the Men of the Kentish Knock and Sunk Lightships

1959 , Thames Estuary (Other)

Anglia Television report on a special Christmas delivery to Thames Estuary lightships.

Home comforts are delivered in late-December for the men who will spend Christmas and New Years aboard light vessels in the Thames Estuary. Setting off from an Essex pier, the supplies are delivered with a small vessel. Rounding the N-E Gunfleet buoy, they arrive at the LV Sunk, delivering boxes of supplies and freshly-plucked turkeys. The delivery is completed across the estuary at the LV Kentish Knock, where items are gratefully received by a lightshipman dressed as Father Christmas.
